Tamil Nadu Governor Barwarilal Purohit condoled the demise of eminent Mathematician C.S. Seshadri here on Saturday.
In his condolence message, the Governor said “The sad demise of Thiru. C.S.Seshadri, an eminent Indian Mathematician and Founder and Director-Emeritus of the Chennai Mathematical Institute fills me with shock and grief.
He was intelligent man and known for his brilliant work in algebraic geometry which people will remember for ages. He was honoured with Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the country.
His demise is irreparable loss to the people of India, Intellectual stalwarts working in Mathematics and his family. I convey my deep condolences to the bereaved members of the family and pray to the Almighty God to rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family to overcome this unfathomable loss.’’
