The two-day National Summit of Institutional Leaders (2025) was inaugurated at the Nityanand Auditorium of Doon University, in Dehradun by Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of Higher Education, Uttarakhand.

The summit has been organized by Doon University in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, Uttarakhand, UCOST, and Vidya Bharti.
The Summit concluded successfully, bringing together some of the most prestigious educational institutions from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. PSG Group of Institutions, Srikrishna Group of Institutions, Rathinam Group of Institutions (Coimbatore), PSN Group of Institutions (Tirunelveli), AMET University, VELS University, Tagore Group of Institutions, ACS Group of Institutions, MOP Vaishnava College (Chennai), and Chinmaya University (Cochin) were among the prominent participants. Additionally, officials from Pondicherry University, IIT Madras, and NIT Trichy were also in attendance, further emphasizing the event’s significance in shaping India’s higher education landscape.

Other distinguished guests included Prof. Kailash Sharma (National President, Vidya Bharathi) ; Prof. Narendra Kumar Taneja (National Secretary, Vidya Bharathi); and Prof. Surekha Dangwal (Vice-Chancellor, Doon University).
Over 300 higher education institutions (HEI) and 600 delegates participated in the event.
Discussions centered around India’s educational vision for 2047, the implementation of NEP 2020, and the role of institutional leadership in driving academic excellence.
Notable speakers included Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman-UGC; Chamu Krishna Shastry, Chairman -Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (Ministry of Education), Prof. Bharat Bhaskar, Director of IIM Ahmedabad and Prof .Ganesan Kannabiran- Director NAAC.
Discussions revolved around fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainable academic practices to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047.
Parallel group discussions, chaired by Prof. Bharat Bhaskar (IIM Ahmedabad) and Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal (IIT Jodhpur), emphasized the need for Indian educational institutions to integrate Indian languages into technical courses and adopt the 6 Cs framework for academic development. Experts from Vidya Bharati, and Doon University facilitated these discussions.
A high-profile panel discussion on “Fostering Academic Excellence: Leadership & Collaboration” was led by Prof. Pradeep Joshi (Chairman, National Testing Agency), with contributions from Prof. S.K. Khare (IISER Kolkata) and Prof. B.J. R (Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad). The panelists underscored the importance of leadership, inter-institutional partnerships, and adaptability in higher education.
A Roadmap for the Future
The draft declaration of NSIL-2025 outlined a clear roadmap for transforming Indian higher education institutions into future-ready campuses. Discussions highlighted the integration of industry-academia partnerships, adoption of sustainable practices, and the importance of aligning performance with Indian cultural values.
The summit concluded with a renewed commitment to academic excellence and collaborative leadership, with vice-chancellors, faculty members, and policymakers from across India pledging to implement progressive reforms in their institutions.
