Tamil Nadu Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils’ Welfare Gingee KS Masthan on Saturday appealed Tamils living abroad to invest in the state and said the role of expatriate Tamils was essential for economic development of their Mother Land.
The Minister said Tamils living abroad should come to Tamil Nadu to start business and Chief Minister MK Stalin was taking special steps in this connection. Due to this Tamil Nadu is emerging as the best investment destination in the country, he added.

Masthan made these comments at the Indian Pacific Islands Trade Council meeting in which Dr Vishnu Prabhu was appointed as the Trade Commissioner of Papua New Guinea in the presence of Minister for Finance and Human Resources Management Palanivel Thiaga Rajan here on Friday, a press release said.
Speaking at this event, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan said global trade relations were essential and it was gratifying to see the development of trade relations between India and Papua New Guinea.

Prabhu, on taking over as the new trade commissioner in the presence of Papua New Guinea High Commissioner Paulias Korni, said he would try to popularise Indian products in that country as part of boosting trade ties. He also said that he would do hisbest to improve Papua New Guinea’s economy as it has abundant gold and natural resource.
The Papua New Guinea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ADZGURU to market, distribute & sell the products of GD Cafe Pvt. Ltd in Papua New Guinea & Australia.
Dr Venkatasalam Murugan, Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr Asif Iqbal, Sujoy Maitra, Dr RL Kannan were also present on the occasion.
