City headquartered Athulya Senior Care, a prominent name in the country’s senior care landscape, on Tuesday announced the launch of dedicated Dementia Care Services at Pallavaram in Chennai.

The specialized service of Athulya Senior Care was launched by the Tamil Nadu Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment P Geetha Jeevan in the presence of Dr Karthik Narayan, Founder & MD, Athulya Senior Care, and G Srinivasan, Founder & CEO, Athulya Senior Care.
Addressing after inaugurating the Athulya Dementia Care, the minister said, “The people’s government led by the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin is taking various steps to regularize the functioning of Senior Care and children’s homes across the state. As many as 89 children’s homes functioned without obtaining legal permission from the social welfare department were closed.”
Keeping in mind the welfare of the senior citizens, the Chief Minister had launched pension scheme and over 1 lakh senior citizens were given monthly pension. Apart from this, the government is also extending grant/financial assistance to over 150 Senior Citizens’ Homes across the district, the Minister added.
She also said that the government is in the process of establishing a model Senior Care Centre in Kancheepuram district. Land has been acquired for this purpose. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared and sent for the approval of the Chief Minister by the Social Welfare Department. The model senior care centre will be established with all the necessary facilities needed for the seniors.
Talking to navjeevanexpress.com, the minister said that the growing number of Senior Citizens’ Homes is not a symbol of healthy society. Hence, the department is conducting awareness programmes among the public to sensitise how to take care of senior citizens who had invested their heart soul for their wards/families.
