The harvest festival of Tamils Pongal or ‘Thamizhar Thirunaal’ was celebrated on Wednesday at the Income Tax Office Campus, on Mahatma Gandhi Road, Nungambakkam here.
R Ravichandran, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry has presided over the function and addressed the gathering.
He stated that Tamil Nadu & Puducherry region is at fourth place nationally and the collection has increased by 28% compared to last year.
As a part of the celebration, “Utharaa MS Kalai Kuzhu”, Vadipatti performed ‘Thappattam & Karakam’.
Senior Officers and Officials of the department graced the occasion. The celebrations were organised by Thozhi Women’s Association and Income Tax Recreation Club.
