Tamil Nadu has received its third Oxygen Express from Jharkhand taking the total capacity of medical oxygen delivered to the southern State to 151.4 tonne, Southern Railway said on Sunday.
The express from Tatanagar, Jharkhand, arrived at the Inland container depot, Tondiarpet, here, at 10 AM today. The train brought 40 tonne of liquid medical oxygen, a press release said.

Already, Tamil Nadu has received two such expresses from Odisha and West Bengal to serve COVID-19 patients. “With the arrival of the third, the total capacity of the liquid medical oxygen is 151.4 tonne,” the release said. Southern Railway said the fourth and fifth loaded oxygen expresses from Rourkela and Tata Steel Siding at Kalinganagar, Odisha, are in transit and are expected to arrive here on Monday.

The fourth and fifth loaded oxygen express from Rourkela and Tata Steel Siding, Kalinganagar in Odisha are in transit and are expected to arrive tomorrow. The loaded oxygen express from Rourkela will deliver 5 loaded tankers with nearly 79 tonnes of oxygen to Tamilnadu. The loaded oxygen express from Tata Steel siding will deliver 4 loaded oxygen containers with 80 tonnes to Inland Container Depot, Tondiarpet in Chennai.
4th Oxygen express left Chennai with four empty containers to Rourkela
An Oxygen express rake has been dispatched today from Tondiarpet with four empty containers to Rourkela in Odisha.

Kerala received its first loaded oxygen express carrying 6 Oxygen containers (117.9 tonnes) dispatched from Tata Steel Siding in Kalinganagar, Odisha. It reached its destination, Vallarpadam Container Terminal in Kochi at 03.42 hrs today (16th May 2021) and unloading is in progress. The empty rake will be dispatched to Rourkela.
Indian Railways endeavour to deliver as much LMO as possible in the shortest time possible to the requesting states.
Since the operation of Oxygen Express started Indian Railway has delivered more than 9440 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to various states across the nation by running 150 oxygen expresses.Oxygen Expresses have been delivering nearly 800 MT of LMO to the Nation each day for last few days.
Oxygen has been delivered by rail to 13 states. So far 521 MT of oxygen has been offloaded in Maharashtra, nearly 2525 MT in Uttar Pradesh, 430 MT in Madhya Pradesh, 1228 MT in Haryana, 389 MT in Telangana, 40 MT in Rajasthan, 361 MT in Karnataka, 200 MT in Uttarakhand, 151 MT in Tamil Nadu, 118 MT in Kerala, 116 MT in Andhra Pradesh and more than 3320 MT in Delhi.
Railway has mapped different routes with oxygen supply locations and keep itself ready with any emerging need of the States. Tankers to the Indian Railways for bringing LMO are provided by the states, according to a release from CPRO B Guganesan on Sunday.
