Schools across the Tamil Nadu reopened on Tuesday after a gap of nearly 10 months. Keeping in mind the upcoming board examinations, schools reopened for classes 10 and 12.
Student’s turn out is satisfactory, on an average 85% of the students attended the schools on the reopening day across the state, said School Education Director S. Kannappan.
“The student turn out would touch 100 % before this week end’’ the director added.
The Director said wearing of masks is compulsary on campus. Students & staff should wash their hands regularly, sanitise & avoid moving in large groups. Distribution of zinc and vitamin tablets to begin today as well.
The schools reopened in the state following all the Standard Operating Procedure, SOPs issued by the Directorate of Public Health. Screening of all students and teachers within a week of school reopening will be done.
Besides maintaining social distancing, staggered entry and exit of students, different break times and limiting 25 students per class room, distribution of masks to students were enforced strictly.
All the students were screened for temperature at the entrance of the schools.
The Department of School Education has deputed the official in the rank of Joint Directors to oversee the smooth reopening of schools in all the revenue districts, sources in the department said.
In the list of guidelines and SOPs issued for reopening of schools, DPH has asked schools to ensure screening, cleaning of school premises and also providing for safety measures.
In a circular issued, Deputy Directors of health services have been asked to screen all students and faculty in a week’s time. DDs have also been directed to share the SOPs and information as well as education and communication materials with all school managements.
As per the SOP, sanitizers to be provided at each classroom and across the school
SOPs for handling suspected symptomatic children have also been shared with PHCs to ensure safety of the students.
Schools to be provided with ample quantities of Vitamin C, multivitamin tables, immune boosters and the authorities to ensure children get the same.
Schools in Delhi and Rajasthan were also reopened today and Telangana, government has announced reopening of schools from February 1, 2021.
