Tamil Nadu Minister for Environment and Pollution Control, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Siva Meyyanathan on Friday distributed uniform and sports kit worth Rs 1 lakh each to the 18 hockey players representing the state in the 11th Hockey India Senior Men’s Nationals to be held in Pune.
J Sathish of Chennai will lead the 18-member Tamil Nadu State Senior Men’s Hockey team in the 11th Hockey India Senior Men’s Nationals to be held in Pune, Maharashtra State from December 11 to 22, said Sekar J Manoharan, President of Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu said.
Thirty-five players from across the state were part of the camp, a healthy mix of seniors and juniors, held at SDAT Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, Egmore, Chennai. The final 18 for the Senior National Championships were selected in the first week of December.
Minister Siva Meyyanathan recently distributed uniform and sports kit worth Rs 1 lakh each to the 18 hockey players and the team manager, coach and physiotherapist, respectfully. The function was held at SDAT Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, Egmore, Chennai.
President of the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu Sekar J Manoharan along with K Rajarajan, Treasurer,.S Thirumalvalavan, Olympian and Joint Secretary and D Clement Lurduraj, Joint Secretary were present at the function.
The Tamil Nadu men’s hockey team were champions in the 2019 edition and in the 2020 edition, they bowed out in the quarter-finals.
