The Tamil Nadu government is planning to rope in food aggregators such as Swiggy, Zamoto as well as others to offer food prepared hygienically at all the 53 TTDC hotels across the state. To start with, TTDC’s hotel at Island grounds in Chennai will accept orders from the public through these Apps, Tourism Minister Mathivendan said here.
In reply to a query, the minister said that the government is in the process of revamping all its hotels, in such a way that it would attract tourists from within and outside the country. TTDC has recently tied up with leading hotel room booking Apps for room bookings, he added.

With a view to maximize the room bookings and occupation, the government is mulling to introduce dynamic tariffs akin to the railways. The minister hopes that it would help the TTDC to reap good return.
The tourism industry was the worst hit due to Coronavirus and also the last one to revive, as the threat of Covid-19 is still haunting the public.
With a view to revive the tourism sector, the government is considering to announce the industry status for tourism industry. In connection with this, he had made nearly 30 announcements during the recently assembly session, the minister said.
Besides regular tourism, the government is giving thrust for developing adventure tourism as well as water tourism.
Earlier, the minister inaugurated the two-day India International Travel Mart (IITM) Tourism Fair in Chennai recently and went around the stalls put up by tourism departments of Rajasthan, Punjab, Jharkhand, Gujarat etc and also by leading Hotels and resorts. Chandra Mohan, Tourism Secretary accompanied the minister.
Rohit Hangal, Sphere Travel Media and Exhibitions was also present on this occasion.
