In line with Tamil culture of ‘penmaiyai pottruvom’ or women empowerment, the newly-elected Tamil Nadu Cricket Association president Dr P Ashok Sigamani on Saturday said they will focus more on promoting women’s cricket, more opportunities and even explore an exclusive league for them.
Talking to media immediately after assuming charge as TNCA president, Dr P Ashok Sigamani said “The new team will continue the work done by the predecessors, especially by the former BCCI Chairman N Srinivasan, and reiterated the association’s goal of trying to win the Ranji Trophy as the priority on the cricketing side’.

“We are planning to have a talent scout to go throughout the districts and identify young pacers and even spinners. We can divide the programme into different zones and get players who have good talent,” Dr Ashok added.
When asked when will the M A Chidambaram stadium be ready for conducting international matches, Dr Ashok said the renovation and repair work would be over before the end of December, i.e. ahead of a bilateral match to be held during 2023.
