AHMEDABAD, MAY 11
The Gujarat Literature Festival – a movement to protect and conserve our linguistic, literary & cultural identities – is hosting its ninth edition between Wednesday and Monday – May 11 and 15, 2022 at Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA). GLF has the distinction of being the largest and the most popular literary event in Gujarat. It has organised six editions in Ahmedabad and two in Vadodara, said Shyam Parikh, Director, GLF here on Tuesday..
Shyam Parekh said that it is expected that over 100 speakers, performers, authors and artists besides screen writers will adore the festival. The festival is expected to get a huge footfall as it is being organized after a gap of over 2.5 years and during the summer vacation, for the first time. Earlier, it was used to be held during the winter season, Parikh added.
“GLF does not believe that literature is limited to the printed text between the covers of a book. We believe literature thrives in every storyteller, whatever be the medium chosen to express creativity. To that effect, GLF celebrates creativity in all forms and mediums, be it theatre, films, journalism, screenwriting, blogging etc,” Shyam Parikh said.
The third edition of Indian Screenwriters’ Festival will be inaugurated by Siddharth Roy Kapur, President of Producers’ Guild of India. This will se the participation of screenwriters from Bollywood in Gujarat. ISF is held in association with Screenwriters’ Association of India (SWA).
Well known Gujarati poet Raam Mori said, “We are holding various special sessions for budding poets and screen writers to upskill them. Further, the new caption literature session will help in using the digital media to bring about the latent talents of youth with creative thinking. Expert speakers will throw light on advantages and disadvantages of entertainment served over OTT platforms, In keeping with the digitisation, GLF will effectively help in deploying online platforms taking literature to the masses via e-books.”
Jumana Shah of GLF said, “Owing to the onslaught of English, children have lost interest in their mother tongue. To woo back them, we are holding Tabariya, a specially designed fest where children are the audience in the age group of 4 years to 14 years. Through Parampara event we are trying our best in popularising Gujarati language among children. Further, telling stories (traditional and modern) to children with Dada Dadi no Otlo will increase their curiosity to learn Gujarati.”
