As part of the measure to break the Coronavirus chain, the Tamil Nadu government on Monday night imposing tightens the restrictions for two weeks from May 6.
The restrictions come into force between 4 a.m. on May 6 and 4 a.m. on May 20.

All government and private offices would be allowed to function with a maximum of 50% employees. The government also restricted travel on rail and government and private buses, on metro trains and on taxis to only 50% of their respective capacities, a release said.
Barring provision and grocery shops without air-condition other shops will not be allowed to be function. At a time, only 50% customers are to be allowed in provision and grocery shops and these shops would be permitted to function only till 12 noon.
However, there would be no bar on medical shops and the supply of milk. Dine in facility in restaurants and hotels continues and only take away service would be allowed. “Tea shops would be allowed to function only till 12 noon,” it said.
Earlier, the government had banned operating shops over 3000 square feet and also shopping malls.
Five day week for fish, chicken and meat shops
Fish, chicken and other meat shops will have five day week and can operate between 6 am and 12 noon. They would not be allowed on Saturdays and Sundays.
The government also imposed a ban on holding all kinds of social, political, sports, recreational, educational and cultural events in indoor auditoriums. Cinema halls would continue to be shut.
Only 20 persons are permitted to take part in funerals and related rituals instead of 25 persons.
Ban on Salons, Spas extended to rural areas
In addition to the ban on operating salons and spas in urban areas within Municipal Corporations and Municipalities, the government has expanded it to salons and spas in rural areas.
The night curfew and Sunday lockdowns has also been extended until further orders.
