With an aim to spread awareness among the students and their parents and remind them about the road safety norms, T-Man, Positive Jindagi and Lion Ketan Desai of Lions International (Dist. 3232 B1) have jointly launched a unique road safety education and awareness campaign- RASTA- on Friday in Ahmedabad.
This campaign is launched on the occasion of 31st National Road Safety Week which is initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) and Government of India (GOI) from January 11 to January 17, the organisers said and added that their focus will be schoolchildren.
In order to celebrate the week-long RASTA campaign and to create awareness in the society, renowned Traffic Safety Expert Amit Khatri, will conduct several activities- poster and slogan competition, expert talks and quiz competition- for schoolchildren in Ahmedabad. The grand finale of this interschool activity will be organized on January 18 at Studio Positive Jindagi, Ahmedabad.
An expert panel comprising Deepak Vyas (Retired ACP, Ahmedabad City Traffic Police), J.B. Rao (Retired RTO officer. Road Safety expert and member of U Turn Foundation), Lion Ketan Desai (Dist Chairperson Road Safety – Lion’s Club), Paresh Dave (T–MAN), Kaushal Shah (Positive Jindagi), Chairperson of Ladies Circle India Charu Biyani, Innovative Educationist Dinesh Majithiya, Communication expert Subhojit Sen and creative entrepreneur Deepak Jha will be visiting various schools to motivate the kids and share knowledge with them.
Commenting on this initiative, Paresh Dave said, “Every year this week is celebrated with a different theme and awareness campaign. In 20-20 we have selected three core themes- No Cell Phone While Driving, No Ride without Helmet and Importance of Lane Driving- to educate students about safety norms.”
Lion Ketan Desai shared, “Our safety is in our hands and that is the reason why we should follow traffic and safety norms”.
Sharing his experience, Deepak Vyas, Retired ACP, Ahmedabad City Traffic Police said, “We lose more lives on the road than border or wars. So, Road Safety is one of the most important issues currently and we should work towards it.”
Kaushal Shah shared, “If you don’t care about yourselves, then at least care about your loved ones. Drive safe.” JB Rao, Retired RTO officer who is also a Road Safety expert believes in simple motto of “Safety for all”. Charu of Ladies Circle ascertains that “The best drivers are aware that they must be bewaring. Stop accidents before they stop you.”
Many schools of Ahmedabad like Rachana School, Calorx Public School, St Xavier’s Mirzapur, Visamo Kids Foundation, Vishwabharati School and Dharuvadiyu have already confirmed their participation in the first round of Poster & Slogan Making Competition
