Naturals, India’s largest chain of beauty salons, have launched a beauty and wellness college. This was announced by its founder C.K. Kumaravel and Co-Founder Veena Kumaravel at its 20th-anniversary celebrations held here on Thursday.
Naturals has launched the beauty and wellness college in association with the Vel’s Group of Institutions. The curriculum for the course would be provided by the Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (BWSSC), a part of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The main aim of launching the college is to create more entrepreneurs, especially empowering women in the future.
Kumaravel also announced another joint venture between Naturals Ayur, the Ayurvedic beauty and grooming salon arm of Naturals, and Kerala Ayurveda Limited which will cater to the needs of overseas market, as the western population is turning towards Ayurveda instead of English medicine.
“Naturals began with 7 salons two decades ago and grown to 700 and we aim to expand it into 7000’’ in the next two decades, Kumaravel said.
“When we first opened Naturals 20 years ago, the industry was seen very differently. We have truly changed the way that the country thinks about beauty and wellness, and it has become a major lifestyle industry today. Now we have our sights on the next 20 years. We endeavour to make qualifications in beauty and wellness be seen as being as valuable as any professional degree.”
R.Parthasarathy, Chairman of CADD Centre, who is the operating partner for Naturals said, “CADD is working with Naturals to make the brand a global leader in the salon industry and we are targeting opening of 3,000 salons by 2022. We look forward to an excellent long-term partnership and growth together”.
Ramesh Wangal Founder and Chairman of Katra group unveiled the NaturalsAyur, a joint venture with Naturals to offer contemporary Ayurvedic wellness solutions to the customers of Naturals across the country and abroad.
Addressing at the press conference, Monica Bahl, Chief Executive Officer, Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (BWSSC) said that there are 23 colleges across the nation providing courses on beauty & wellness course. Foremost important for this industry is to impart soft skills training for the aspiring employers and employees in this field, she added.
Vel’s Group Chairman Isari K. Ganesh launched the Beauty and Wellness College and the new logo of Naturals to mark its 20 years achievement was unveiled by R. Parthasarathy, Chairman, CADD Centre.
Later in the evening, a panel discussion, “What is True Beauty?” over the last two decades featuring actor and director Suhasini Maniratnam, danseuse Alarmel Valli and classical singer Bombay Jayashri were held. Later, they were felicitated at the anniversary celebrations.
