Additional Director General of NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu Major General Roy Joseph inaugurated the Naval Rowing Simulator at 2 Gujarat Naval Unit and Virus Microlight flight simulator at 1 Gujarat Air Squadron in Vadodara.
Both projects have been supported by the State Education Department.
While interacting with officers, ANOs and cadets, the ADG said, “The constant upgradation of training infrastructure will not only provide an opportunity to showcase their capabilities but will also provide multi-dimensional exposure to the cadets”.
“Virus SW80 Microlight Flight Simulator would benefit cadets to learn almost real-time flying and can fly solo also. The design and controls of the Flight Simulator are the same as that of recently acquired Virus SW80 Microlight aircraft. Also, all emergencies and weather conditions can be simulated in it. The Flight Simulator would go a long way in training the Air cadets and this would not only save fuel costs but would also enable cadets to get a first-hand feel and acquaintance before flying real Microlight aircraft,” Major Gen Roy said.
Boat Pulling remains an important activity for the Naval cadets during their training. NCC Directorate Gujarat has nine Naval units and the cadets of these units are required to learn the basics of handling Whaler boats at sea. Realising the importance of the boat pulling training, NCC Directorate has ensured the installation of six Naval Rowing Simulators at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Veraval, and Navsari. It would benefit the cadets immensely as the naval simulators can help in increasing the stamina of cadets which is an essential requirement of Boat Pulling. The Naval Simulator would go a long way in training the Naval cadets but also help the cadets to bring laurels to Gujarat Directorate in various National Naval camps and also in sailing expeditions, the release added.
