Close on the heels of PM Narendra Modi and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Dahod on May 10, party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil informed on Wednesday.

pic.twitter.com/d5suQhNL0p

Gandhi will launch the Adivasi Adhikar Satyagrah campaign of Congress in Gujarat’s Dahod. Gujarat will go to polls later this year. The top leaders from the BJP and the AAP have already started campaigning in this tribal belt, a Congress citadel.

Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Congress comes at a time when the party, which has been trying hard to defeat the BJP in Gujarat, is facing factionalism with Hardik Patel, working president in the state, accusing the senior leaders of sidelining him and not using him.

Patel, who shot to fame in 2015 for leading Patidar reservation agitation, joined the Congress in 2019. He was made Congress working president for Gujarat. His induction and working president post did not go down well with the senior leaders who he accused of ignoring him. Recently, he dropped Congress party’s name from his Twitter bio, fuelling speculation that he may join the BJP or AAP.

On Sunday, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal visited Gujarat, where he urged the people to kick out the BJP which is ruling the state for decades but did not do enough in terms of building schools and hospitals.

In the middle of April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a three-day visit to Gujarat, where he dedicated to the nation and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects. During the visit, he attended programmes in Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Jamnagar and Dahod.

Rahul reaches out to sulking Hardik Patel

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has reached out to Hardik Patel and sent him a message to sort out the differences.

Rahul has also asked the Patidar leader to continue in the party. He has also directed Gujarat Congress leaders to reach out to Hardik and resolve their differences.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala also confirmed that the party top brass has spoken to Hardik.
