With every new Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise has raised the bar – and then leapt off it. From clinging to the side of planes to scaling the tallest towers, Cruise has never played it safe. But in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, he’s taking things deeper. Literally.

This time, Ethan Hunt dives into danger in a way we’ve never seen before. The film features a nerve-racking underwater sequence aboard a sunken Russian submarine in the Arctic, and Cruise calls it the most ambitious underwater stunt of his 40-year career. In his own words: “From Legend in 1985 to Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, I have been studying and filming underwater sequences for over 40 years. We have always tried to push our filmmaking to the next level, and in this movie McQ and I saw an opportunity to create an underwater sequence unlike any other. We are excited to share it with you”
The video dives into the meticulous planning and underwater communication techniques that made this feat possible, with Cruise leading from the front – at age 62 and looking every bit the action legend he is. (Yes, he really looks that good). Cruise’s images as he takes these shots has the internet collectively gasping for air for good reason. The actor is in top physical form, with a physique that rivals people half his age.
And that’s not all. He’s also seen clinging to the side of a biplane mid-air while still delivering the grit, gunplay, and signature foot chase we’ve come to expect. These stunts are more than spectacle – they’re a love letter to fans who’ve followed Hunt’s impossible missions for decades!
