Toshiba Digital Solutions Corporation, in collaboration with Toshiba Software India Pvt. Ltd., has announced the first-ever GridDB Cloud IoT Hackathon, to be held in-person in Bengaluru from January 31 to February 1, 2026. The two-day event invites startups, students, and developers to build real-time IoT applications using GridDB® Cloud, Toshiba’s fully managed time-series database hosted on Microsoft Azure Marketplace.
The initiative underscores Toshiba’s commitment to advancing the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem by promoting the capabilities of GridDB® Cloud, which became globally available in April 2025. As a core data infrastructure for digital transformation, GridDB® Cloud enables enterprises to efficiently collect, store, and analyze large volumes of data — unlocking actionable insights and powering mission-critical applications with high-speed ingestion, low latency, and enterprise-grade reliability.
Participants will be challenged to develop IoT solutions addressing real-world challenges across smart manufacturing, energy, mobility, and healthcare. The top five teams will be shortlisted from online submissions and invited to the Bengaluru event, where they’ll receive hands-on technical mentorship from Toshiba’s GridDB® engineers. During the finals, teams will present their proofs-of-concept to an expert jury, with outstanding projects earning recognition and potential support from Toshiba.
The hackathon offers a unique opportunity for India’s tech community to gain practical experience with emerging IoT technologies, collaborate with innovators, and strengthen expertise in time-series data management and cloud-native development.
Applications are open through December 14, 2025.
