CHENNAI, JAN 23
The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) will recruit 2,956 teachers and lecturers through six recruitment tests, according to the board’s recently released annual planner for 2020.
The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) will be conducted on June 27 and 28.
According to the planner, the board would conduct recruitment test for block educational officers (BEOs) on February 15 and 16. The board would recruit 97 BEOs based on the exam.
The polytechnic lecturers recruitment test will be conducted on May 2 and 3 to fill 1,060 vacancies.
The board has cancelled earlier test conducted in 2017 after unearthing a major scam. Following the scam the board has changed exams from pen and paper mode to computer based test.
It would also conduct separate tests to recruit postgraduate teachers (497), secondary grade teachers (730) and graduate teachers (BT assistants) (572) this year. The examinations for these tests will be announced later.
TET qualified teachers alone will be eligible to write recruitment test for graduate teachers. It would be first recruitment test for graduate teachers as the earlier selections was made by weightage marks which would give weightage to performance in TET and board exams and degree exams. The weightage mark system was scrapped in 2018.
The schedule is only tentative, it may vary in future according to situations.
