During the spectacular Parade of Sail along the iconic Hudson River, the majestic three-masted barque proudly flew the Indian Tricolour, drawing global attention to India’s rich maritime heritage and centuries-old seafaring traditions against the backdrop of New York’s skyline.

The New York visit forms a key milestone in Lokayan 2026, the Indian Navy’s ambitious 10-month transoceanic expedition aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation, enhancing naval diplomacy and fostering goodwill with partner nations across the globe.

Having successfully participated in the SAIL 250 celebrations at Norfolk and Baltimore, INS Sudarshini is now berthed at Brooklyn for the Sail4th 250 festivities marking the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Independence.

The Indian Navy said the voyage reflects its enduring commitment to promoting maritime collaboration, expanding international engagement and reinforcing partnerships with friendly navies through professional exchanges and cultural outreach.

Set against the iconic New York skyline, INS Sudarshini stands as a proud symbol of India’s enduring maritime civilisation and its growing role as a responsible maritime power.

The port call represents far more than a trans-Atlantic voyage. It underscores the deepening friendship, mutual respect and expanding maritime partnership between India and the United States while reaffirming India’s commitment to peace, cooperation and a rules-based maritime order.

As Lokayan 2026 continues its global voyage, INS Sudarshini carries forward India’s timeless seafaring traditions, strengthening people-to-people connections and maritime diplomacy across the world’s oceans.

“The visit is part of the ship’s 10-month transoceanic expedition, Lokayan 2026, which reflects the Indian Navy’s commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation, building international goodwill and deepening engagement with partner navies.”

“The port call represents more than a journey across the Atlantic. It reflects the enduring friendship, mutual respect, and expanding maritime partnership between India and the United States.”

“From the vast waters of the Atlantic to the historic harbour of New York, INS Sudarshini continues to strengthen maritime ties, carrying forward India’s seafaring traditions while promoting friendship and cooperation across the world’s oceans.”
