Uber on Tuesday announced that it is restarting its airport transportation service in Gujarat -Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara – following a resumption of domestic air travel. Riders will now be able to access UberGo and Uber Premier services for safe, reliable, and convenient airport travel needs, as permitted by government guidelines.
Shiva Shailendran, Head Ridesharing, North and West India, Uber said, “We are pleased to resume services for airport travel in several cities across India. This will bring back earning opportunities for our drivers and we will constantly work with airport authorities to continue to ensure the highest possible hygiene and safety standards for our drivers and riders.’’
Over the past few weeks, Uber has launched a comprehensive set of safety measures, such as the Go Online Checklist, a mandatory mask policy for both riders and drivers, pre-trip mask verification selfies for drivers, mandatory driver education and an updated cancellation policy allowing both riders and driver to cancel trips if they don’t feel safe.
Complementing these measures has been Uber’s effort to distribute over 3 million masks and 200,000 bottles of disinfectants and sanitisers to its driver-partners, free of cost.
