Gujarat government on Sunday announced that it has received an award for Best Vaccination Combating Covid-19 in the category of big states across the country.

The India Today Healthgiri Awards 2021 were presented in Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti to salute the invincible spirit of corona warriors who have led the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The India Today Healthgiri Awards were given away by Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, and Aroon Purie, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India Today Group in New Delhi on Saturday, Gandhi Jayanti.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel congratulated all the staff of the State Health and Family Welfare Department involved in Corona Vaccination for this achievement.

It is worth to mention here that, a total of 4 crore 93 lakh 20 thousand 903 people above the age group of 18 years were eligible for vaccination in Gujarat. A total of 6,13,91,139 doses have been given by health department which include 4,21,86,528 first doses and 1,92,04,611 second doses. In Gujarat, 6.23 lakh people have been given both dose for vaccination for every ten lakh vaccinations.
A total of 82.7 percent in districts and 93.9 percent in corporation areas across the state have been given the first dose. Out of the total 18,215 villages of the state, 13,788 villages have been vaccinated 100 percent.
As a result of such extensive and intensive work of Corona vaccination, Gujarat has achieved the best rank in the category of major states of the country and has received this award of India Today.
Additional Chief Secretary of State’s Health Department Manoj Agarwal, Health Commissioner Jai Prakash Shivahare and State Immunization Officer Dr. Nayan Jani have received the award from Union Health Minister.
Special honors in “Healthgiri 2021 Awards” to the then Secretary serving in the Government of India and a senior chartered officer of the Gujarat cadre, late. Guruprasad Mahapatra was given as the only Unsung Hero. This honor is bestowed to a person who has shown selfless devotion during Covid-19 without any publicity. while performing such duties, he himself has become a victim of Covid-19 and deceased.
CM also paid tribute to the late Mahapatra for the duties he performed during COVID-19 and appreciated his devotion to service.
Apart from this, UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center, Ahmedabad has been awarded The Economic Times Healthcare Award-2021 for Excellence in Hospital Management during COVID-19. UN Mehta Hospital is honored to provide dedicated Covid Healthcare and the best healthcare services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief Minister also lauded the proud achievement of UN Mehta Hospital and lauded the contribution of UN Mehta Hospital in the field of healthcare.
