The Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Youth Welfare and Sports Anurag Thakur appealed the youths to contribute to the nation building initiative and help the country to become a developed nation by 2047 by constantly upskilling AI & ML and technological advancements.

Addressing the students of AM Jain College, Chennai as part of the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) initiative, he said ‘MY Bharat’ portal initiative is for building confidence and leadership skills among the youth.

- The minister interacts with the students of AM Jain College in Chennai as part of Mera Yuva Bharat initiative.
- Over 1.4 lakh youth from Tamil Nadu have registered in the MY Bharat portal where they will be sharing their real-life experience through ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’.
The primary objective of Mera Yuva Bharat is to make the portal a platform of the central government for youth development. Under the new arrangement, with access to resources & connection to opportunities, youth would become change agents and nation builders allowing them to act as the Yuva Setu between the Government and the citizens. The initiative seeks to harness the immense energy of the youth for building a developed India by 2047, he added.
Over 1.4 lakh youth from Tamil Nadu have registered in the MY Bharat portal where they will be sharing their real-life experience through ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’.
He said that the government is celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence as Amrit Kaal and also emphasized that we are marching towards Swarnim Kaal, when India will become a developed nation by 2047.
Listing the achievements of the government and various policies implemented by it, he brought to light how these measures has transformed the country in terms of better infrastructure, health facilities, technological upgradation and better connectivity.
The Modi government has established that good policies could transform the lives of the people of the country. Now India is the largest growing economy in the world. The collective effort of the youth of the country has contributed in India becoming the fifth largest economy of the world.
There should be desire and fire in the belly of the youth to make India self-reliant and a developed nation. They should take inspiration from the lives of lakhs of youth who sacrificed their life to make India Independent.
Aatmanirbhar Bharat is not a mere slogan but a mantra to bring a paradigm shift to make India as a manufacturing base for the world. We have listed out the focus areas of the government, said the minister and continued to explain that the policies being implemented will help in generating higher per capita income, better infrastructure facilities and improving the happiness index of the country in a big way.
Flags off VBSY IEC van
The Minister also flagged off the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) IEC van for Chennai, which will take the messages of various development schemes and initiatives of the central government to the beneficiaries across the city. He said that the yatra has already reached about 2.5 crore people and the beneficiaries have shared their experiences on how policies of government have brought about a massive change in their lives in the last 10 years. He said VBSY is being carried out as a Jan Bagidhari event. It is a largest ever outreach programme in the world which will cover urban and local bodies across the country reaching 1.4 billion people in the next two months, the minister added.
Stating that the budget allocation for the capital expenses has reached to the tune of Rs 10 lakh crore in the last 10 years, the minister said the pumping of money in the infrastructure projects have created a ripple effect in the economy leading to employment generation and self-employment.
The Minister said in the last 10 years India has become the largest Start-Up eco system in the world.
Speaking about the Make in India programme, the minister said two and half years ago India was importing 90% of the toys, but the Make in India programme has incentivized the sector and now India produces 80% of the toys and the sales have increased to a staggering Rs.4.5 crores now.
Calling on the youth to become an ideal citizen of the country, he said India’s rich cultural heritage has taught us to respect parents and teachers. The future generation should also inculcate this cultural heritage of ours, said the Minister.
He said acquiring mere degrees wouldn’t help youths to find jobs, but only knowledge and skill will help them in securing their future. The Minister reminded the young audience that because of the technological advancements like AI, Maching Learning the job scenario across the world has been changing, upskilling and reskilling are vital for the youth to contribute in building a developed nation by 2047.
The Minister also distributed various benefits under the flagship programmes by the central government like PM Ujjwala Yojana and Mudra Yojana to the beneficiaries.
