Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s interim Budget, which focuses on infrastructure and long-term reforms to drive growth, was hailed by Union Ministers and senior BJP leaders, who termed it ‘historic’.

Through a post on X, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a positive and encouraging ‘Interim Budget’, which outlines the vision for a confident, strong and self-reliant ‘Viksit Bharat’. The Budget gives a glimpse of India’s rapid economic transformation, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, he said.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said the Budget was aimed at strengthening India’s economic sector in line with PM Modi’s resolve to make India the third largest economy in the world.

“This is a budget to speed up the country’s development and increase employment,” Gadkari said, on Sitharaman’s announcement that the government would spend 11.1 trillion rupees ($134 billion) on infrastructure in the next fiscal year. This is about 11% higher when compared to allocations for the current fiscal year.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia too hailed the budget as historic. “This is a historic budget…India has now moved forward. ‘Yahi samay hai, sahi samay hai’,” he told reporters outside the Parliament.
Stating that the Budget was aimed at pushing the Indian economy to grow more than USD 5 trillion by 2027, Defence Minister Rajnath Minister took to X to say that there is something in this Budget for “every section of the society”. He also congratulated Sitharaman for “presenting a positive and encouraging interim Budget’ which outlines the vision for a confident, strong and self-reliant #ViksitBharat”.
“Inspired by PM Shri @narendramodi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, this Budget gives a glimpse of India’s rapid economic transformation. There is something in this Budget for every section of the society. There is a big push for infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, and housing and technology development in this Budget.”
While Union Minister VK Singh highlighted the term ‘Vikshit Bharat’, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju thanked Sitharaman and PM Modi for not leaving out any sector.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stressed the ‘Jai Anusandhan’ scheme under the Budget which he said will directly benefit India’s new generation. “The biggest announcement of this budget is the ‘Jai Anusandhan’ scheme for which Rs 1 lakh crore has been announced as a corpus fund in today’s budget. Whichever private entity would opt for a loan, they will get an interest-free loan for 50 years,” Pradhan told reporters.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh termed the Budget inclusive, stating that all the four pillars that have been set up for a ‘Viksit Bharat’- farmers, youth, poor, and women. “Accepting 2 crore more houses under the PM Awas Yojana and deciding a number of 3 crore for ‘lakhpati didi’ self-help groups, many such schemes show that both welfare schemes and expenditure schemes are equally considered,” Singh added.
Gujarat says “it considers diverse needs of every segment of society”
Terming the Union Budget 2024 all-inclusive and development-oriented, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday said that it would meet the hopes and aspirations of millions of citizens. CM Patel also said that the Budget reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a developed country by 2047.
“The Budget will meet the hopes and aspirations of millions of Indian citizens. The presented in the Lok Sabha will provide a renewed thrust and vitality to the Prime Minister’s dedication to achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat@2047.” This comprehensive budget considers the diverse needs of every segment of society,” he said. Welcoming the Union Budget, the Chief Minister praised the goal of constructing 2 crore new houses in rural areas, as announced in this Budget.
