Expert Member – Marketing of Khadi and Village Industries Commission under the Ministry of MSME Manoj Kumar Goel on Friday visited Gandhipuram Sarvodaya Sangh in Coimbatore and witnessed the KVI activities of the Sangh at Vadavalli.
During his visit, he met over 30 silk reelers and silk weavers and was talking to them in the “Khadi Panchayat”. He expressed his views on Khadi saying that he is wearing Khadi shirt which is made by Khadi artisan like them and proud of wearing this Khadi shirt.
In his speech conveyed the artisans about various initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of grass root level people of the country like water supply facilities, free gas cylinder, fund to construct toilet etc, especially for the benefit of women.
He said that he has come here to communicate the desire of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hear their feelings and how best the government can help them to solve their discomforts. While hearing the concerns of the artisans for wage increase, pension benefits, coverage of medical insurance to them, as they have now attained old age, Manoj Goel heard their grievances and requested the Khadi artisans to submit all their concerns in writing so that he can take steps to place those issues before the Commission for taking suitable decisions on each issue.
Goel further informed that he will work to fulfill the vision of our Prime Minister to reach to the poorest of the poor person in the society.
After long deliberations, the artisans expressed their gratitude to Manoj Goel for having discussed with them open heartedly and the gesture to support them in all possible ways. During Khadi Panchayat Manoj Goel took part in the Sama Pandi Bhoojan with the artisans.
