The University of East London (UEL) on Monday hosted a groundbreaking Sustainability Solutions Conference at the Taj Wellington, Chennai. This event marked a significant milestone in UEL’s multi-city India tour, which aims to foster sustainable education, promote innovative technologies, and strengthen partnerships between academia and industry.

The conference showcased UEL’s commitment to sustainable solutions, with a particular focus on key innovations such as Sugarcrete. This low-carbon building material, made from sugarcane waste, has the potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the construction industry.UEL and India partners are taking a substantive lead in sustainable development by using Sugarcrete as a potentially major manufacturing solution for India and have successfully constructed an entire school with this technology.

Expert panels convened to discuss pressing issues such as climate change, sustainable energy, and circular economy. Renowned speakers from UEL, Siemens India, and other leading organizations shared insights and best practices, providing valuable insights into the latest trends and challenges in the field of sustainability.

The University of East London’s India Tour 2024 continues with a strategic roundtable on HR innovation in Hyderabad on , Tuesday November 19th, followed by Women in Leadership Awards ceremony in Vadodara on Friday, November 22nd.
Academicians including Dr Annie Jacob, Director, KCG College of Technology, officials from TANCEM, Sugar industries took part in the panel discussion.
Later addressing the media Professor Amanda J. Broderick said the University is collaborating with several institutions/industries in India to take industry-Academia exchange of technological innovations to the next level.
