NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 6

In another shocking incident, a 23-year-old gang-rape survivor was set ablaze by accused in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district on Thursday when she was on way to court to testify against them. The incident has occurred amidst huge national outrage over the rape-burning of a young Hyderabad veterinarian and the killing of all four accused by Hyderabad police in an alleged encounter in the wee hours of Friday got more applauds on the social media.

While the whole episode has opened a floodgate of reactions both in favour and against of such brutal killings, people now want the same treatment to be meted to out to the accused in the Unnao gang rape case.

Three persons have been arrested – two of them are the ones who had raped her in March this year and were out on bail. They were freed from jail a few days ago. The arrested persons have been identified as Hari Shankar Dwiwedi, Shubham Dwiwedi and Shivam Dwiwedi. Two others are absconding.

The girl, who sustained 80 per cent burns, was first rushed to Lucknow and from there she was airlifted to a Delhi hospital. The incident took place in Hindu Nagar village under Bihar police station of Unnao district.

Seeing the girl in flames, villagers informed the police who first took the rape survivor to the district hospital from where she was referred to the Trauma Centre of King George Medical University in Lucknow. In her statement the rape survivor has again named the two accused.

In July this year, another gang-rape survivor from Unnao had met a deadly road accident when her car was hit by a truck. While she and her lawyer sustained serious injuries and airlifted to Delhi, her two aunts were killed on the spot. Sitting MLA of BJP from Unnao Kuldeep Singh Sengar and others are accused in the rape case. After the accident, attempt to murder charges were also slapped against them. The girl was minor when was gang raped in 2017.

Priyanka hits out at Shah, Yogi over law and order

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hit out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for lying through their teeth regarding the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.
In a tweet, she said: “Seeing such incidents occur on a daily basis saddens ones heart. BJP leaders should now come out of their false propaganda.”

Samajwadi Party demanded the President’s rule and dismissal of the Yogi Adityanath-led government in UP over the law and order situation.

Meanwhile, Twitter users have also vent their anger over the burning of a rape survivor in Unnao, blaming the Yogi Adityanath-led state government for the gory crime.
