The Uttar Pradesh state led by Yogi Adityanath is making all-out efforts to be on top in every sector can be judged by the response it has received to its roadshow in the US and other countries. The team, led by the State finance minister, Suresh Khanna, was recently here to attract investors under ‘Invest UP’. The minister invited investors and companies to attend the Global Investors Summit to be held in Lucknow from February 10 to 12 next year.

The team included Amit Singh, Secretary to the CM, Arvind Kumar, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner, Awanish Kumar Avasthi, Advisor to CM, Siddharth Nath Singh, MLC. The chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, addressed on a video chat. US India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) co-ordinated the visit. The state is hopeful of bringing in an investment of Rs 10-lakh crores during the investors summit.

Keeping in view the focus on sectors like IT and electronics, agro and food processing, defence and aerospace, pharmaceutical and medical device, energy, venture capitalists, retail, automobile components, electric vehicle and textile sectors, the team visited various units. Speaking at a meeting hosted by the Consulate General of India in San Francisco, the minister said his government has introduced 25 sectors to ensure good governance and provide a single-window grievance cell.
At a meeting in Silicon Valley allaying fears about the law and order situation, the finance minister pitched to the investors that the UP is a peace-loving state. He even claimed that the state is the best in terms of law and order in the country. Taking this forward, he pointed out the people have elected BJP for the second time which shows the faith reposed by the people.. The chief minister pointed out that the state aims to become $ 1 trillion economy in the near future.
The team had a breakfast meeting at BayArea Council in San Francisco and had talks with the pharma and biotech sector leaders The delegates included Indian-origin investors and founders like Priya and Nandini Tandon and other officials of the council Sean Randolph, Senior Director, Bay Area Council Economic Institute talked about his forthcoming India report and was positive on India’s growth story. The team also visited Sanna Corporation in the Silicon Valley. The team pointed out various incentives offered by the state for the semi conductor and other industries.
In New York, the team visited defence major Sikorsky in Connecticut. It is believed the team was apprised of what Sikorsky is doing in fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and missiles. The UP delegate got to see what Sikorsky is doing with the development of Blackhawk helicopters. Arvind Kumar talked about the Uttar Pradesh defense corridor. The delegation invited Sikorsky to explore the opportunity to source equipment from the defense corridor. Sikorsky., it may be noted, the company already has a JV with Tatas in Hyderabad, to manufacture cabins.
In Los Angeles, a team led by the Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Sathish Mahan, and Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dharmpal Singh, Chief Secretary, Durga Shankar Mishra and senior officers visited various facilities like, film studios and also some industries in San Diego. Consul General, TV Nagendra Prasad, hosted an interactive session with entrepreneurs and VCs of Indian origin. The Speaker appreciated the contributions of the diaspora across the world. Durga Shankar Mishra detailed the policies and advantages of UP for investments and also the progress achieved during the last few years under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath. The team signed MoUs at the meeting.
Earlier, the team visited Bloomenergy, a green energy company, founded by an Indian entrepreneur in the Valley. The company CEO, KR Sridhar, detailed the technology and also its significance for data centers, hospitals, semi conductor industry as it can provide an uninterrupted power supply which is cheaper. The company is sourcing 20 percent of its requirement from India. The team met entrepreneurs at FalconX Accelerator near San Jose. The focus was on IT and startups which was attended by over 20 young entrepreneurs which included some from the UP. MoUs were signed during the meeting. FalconX showed interest to develop the UP Startup eco system.
During the visit, the Uttar Pradesh Mandal of America (UPMA) hosted a reception for the team. Nilu Gupta, the Founder of UPMA, mentioned UP as Uttam Pradesh. Ritesh Tandon, Board Member of UPMA outlined philanthropic work being undertaken by the UPMA, particularly in educating rural children. Some members of UPMA evinced interest in investing in the education, healthcare and IT sectors.
