President and Acting Director of CEPT University Professor Barjor Mehta exhorted the students to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct to ensure that India has world-class infrastructure that will stand the test of time. Prof Mehta also added that “as our country grapples with the challenges of growth, the need for competent professionals with a culture of quality and integrity is non-negotiable.”
Prof Mehta was addressing as chief guest at the 6th Convocation Ceremony for Class of 2024, Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM) here on Monday.
“You’re graduating at a unique time in India’s development story. We are somewhere around three and a half, four trillion dollar economy today. Regardless of what happens, the momentum of this economy will surely take us far further than the 10 trillion dollar economy that we have aimed for in the medium term. What does this mean? It means that it will require professionals with the skills that you have, with the networks that you have developed, and the ability to solve problems, real world problems. And this requires infrastructure professionals, and you will play a crucial role in shaping the country’s story,” Prof Mehta said in his pep talk to the graduating students.
He further added that “Please, as Professor Sudhir Jain mentioned, a culture of quality and integrity is non-negotiable. And you carry an immense responsibility in this regard. And please keep in mind that the impact of your work will impact future generations. My generation’s problems, you have inherited them. And I’m sorry about that. I apologize on my generation’s behalf that we didn’t solve the problems, but now you have to take on these. But try and see that the next generation, the generation that comes after you, does not have to apologize. Or you don’t have to apologize to them. And you must uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct to ensure that India has world-class infrastructure that will stand the test of time.”
Prof Sudhir Jain urges the Class of 2024 to contribute their mite to set up an endowment fund
IITRAM Chairman Prof Sudhir Jain has urged the Class of 2024 to contribute their mite to set up an endowment fund so that their juniors from economically weaker sections get scholarships to pursue their dream of higher education. He also advocated that IITRAM has taught them to learn life-long so as to excel in their chosen field. Prof Jain dwelt at length that integrity was more important than the education and added that he used to appoint only men with integrity.
