Uyir Thamizhukku: Ameer’s political satire tickles funny bones, debutant director needs to improve

R ARIVANANTHAM

Having produced the controversial ‘Anti Indian’ Adham Bhava has taken the avatar of the director through the film ‘Uyir Tamizhukku.’ Ameer, who has been seen as a gangster for the first time acted in a comedy role, has proved his versatility.

Trailer:

Ameer, who is in the cable TV business, falls in love with heroine Chandini Sreedharan as soon as he sees her. Actress Chandini Sreedharan is contesting for councilor elections. Ameer, who thinks that he should hold the hand of heroine somehow, enters the electoral fray against her.

  • Ameer, who has been seen as a gangster for the first time acted in a comedy role, has proved his versatility
  • Late actor Marimuthu, as always, has played the role of a backstabber very well
  • Actress Chandini Sreedharan, who has played the role of Tamil, needs to hone her pronunciation skills

Ameer wins the election by a huge margin and also wins over the heart of Tamil, the heroine. Opposition MLA and Chandni’s father Anandraj resists this love. Due to this, Ameer and him turn into enemies. Meanwhile, Anandraj is mysteriously murdered. Heroine Chandni decides that Ameer committed the murder due to his enmity with Anandraj and throws him in jail. Ameer, who is out on bail, is contesting the by-election in Anandraj constituency against heroine Chandini Sreedharan. There is a fierce competition between the two. Did Ameer take Chandni’s hand by winning this election? Isn’t it? Who killed Anandaraj? Is Ameer innocent? Or guilty? That is the rest of the story of the film.

Director and producer Adham Bhava has brought Ameer, who we used to see as a gangster and a terror, to the comedy field for the first time. Director Ameer has surprised the viewers with his amazing comedy performance. Director Adham Bhava has given a comedy satire film which is a popular political satirical story told with comedy in the caps which can be enjoyed with the family. From the start to the end, the film is lively and moving along with political satire, giving the audience a feeling of having seen a feel good film by taking a look at contemporary politics and adding a tender love story along with it.

However, the comedy scenes could have been handled better and the screenplay could have been sped up a bit. Since the film was almost five years in the making, it would have been better if some things were added to today’s trend to make it more relevant.

Hero Ameer has done comedy like never before in this film. It is also enjoyable in many places. However, it also tests us in some places. It would have been even better if it had been tweaked a bit. Actress Chandini Sreedharan, who has played the role of Tamil, needs to hone her pronunciation skills. Otherwise, she is beautiful and has acted well. Along with Ameer, the comedy army has acted. They all do their job well and add strength to the film. Anandraj leaves after showing his usual villainy. Late actor Marimuthu, as always, has played the role of a backstabber very well.

Songs in Vidyasagar’s music are better but background music is ok. In Devaraj’s cinematography, the scenes related to political elections are well displayed. A satire of the contemporary politics in Tamil Nadu, the film has a love story in it and fans can enjoy it with their families and laugh.

Score: 4/5
