  • Fans of Dhanush and other movie buffs are eagerly looking forward to know if the film could end up as the star’s highest grosser after entering the Rs 100 crore club

They have been updating the movie’s collection regularly. According to their latest social media post, Vaathi has grossed Rs 75 crores from across the globe in 8 days.

Fans of Dhanush and other movie buffs are eagerly looking forward to know if the film could end up as the star’s highest grosser after entering the Rs 100 crore club.

He has a fan base of his own. Following this, for the first time, Dhanush has stepped directly into Telugu with the film ‘Sir’.

The film was released as a Tamil/ Telugu simultaneously under the name ‘Vaathi’/ ‘Sir’ on February 17, 2023.

Directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Sithara Entertainments, the film stars Samyukta as the female lead with Samuthirakani, Bharathiraja, Saikumar, Thanikela Bharani, Aadukalam Naren reprising pivotal roles in this film. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music for this film.

Currently, the film has become a huge success in both languages, Tamil and Telugu, and is still running in theaters in many places. On account of this, as a way of thanking the Reviewers, Media and the public who supported the success of the film, Team Vaathi met the media in Chennai and expressed their gratitude. The film’s director Venky Atluri, Sathish, who wrote the additional screenplay, cinematographer Yuvraj, actor Sha Ra and many others attended the event.

Speaking at the event, actor Sha Ra said, “I want to do a lot of films with director Venky Atluri. So I request the director to cast me in his future projects as well. If I ask my son to study at home, he won’t study. But in the film ‘Vaathi’, Dhanush is seen encouraging the students to study and my son says that he is studying because his Dhanush uncle tells him to. To that extent, ‘Vaathi’ has reached everyone,” he said.

Cinematographer Yuvraj said, “Ever since the release of Vaathi, it looks like a festival in any town you visit. Even now it is running in many theaters as housefull shows. At this time, I would like to express my gratitude to my mentor cinematographer Rathnavelu.

Director Venky Atluri said, “I would like to thank the producer Vamsi, who believed in the story of this film and produced the film and Dhanush who supported me immensely.’”

‘Vaathi’ is my dream project. Working with Dhanush, I learned a lot from him and became an even better technician. So far the film has collected Rs 75 crores net in 8 days. The film received positive publicity from press reviews and word of mouth appreciation from the audience. The producer of the film Vamsi couldn’t make it today as he’s counting the collection of this film”, said the director on a lighter note. He further added that Producer SS Lalit Kumar who promoted the film in Tamil on a huge scale and released it, is still held up with work and would extend his heartfelt thanks for being a part of the film’s success.”

Reply to a query, he said he learnt time management and gained knowledge from Dhanush while producing Vaathi for the last one and half years, Atluri adds.
