The idea of creating a digital application to promote the Pakhavaj in the digital era was envisioned by Ahmedabad-based Vaishnavacharya Goswami Sri Rasikpritamji of the Vallabh Sampradaya.

As a precursor to the Pakhawaj App launch, a grand classical music program was held at HK Auditorium, Ahmedabad, this Sunday, organized by Acharya Griha Mandir under the guidance of Guruji Sri Rasikapritam Goswami. The event aimed to inspire and connect today’s youth with the rich heritage of the Pakhawaj, a classical percussion instrument.

The evening also featured a captivating Kathak performance titled ‘Manglacharan’ by Dhara Mehta. Accompanying the performance was renowned vocal artist Pandit Shri Shishirchandra Bhatt, while Devarshi Shri Hemant Bhatt showcased his mastery of the Pakhawaj.

Adding to the musical grandeur, Dr. Ankit Parikh presented a mesmerizing Pakhawaj recital, accompanied on the harmonium by Pandit Shri Shishirchandra Bhatt. The harmonious interplay of Pakhawaj and Tanpura enchanted the audience. A significant highlight of the event will be the launch of the innovative Pakhawaj App, a digital initiative aimed at preserving and promoting this ancient art form.

This cultural extravaganza saw the participation of over 500 classical music enthusiasts, celebrating the timeless beauty of Indian classical arts.

Digital application to promote the Pakhawaj

This innovative app features a variety of rhythms and chalatis used in Indian classical music forms such as Dhrupad, Dhamar, and Veena, as well as multi-instrumental Jor Jhala performances accompanied by the Pakhavaj. It also includes devotional kirtans and tools for riyaz (practice) and Kirtan Seva, offering a comprehensive platform to preserve and propagate the rich heritage of Indian classical music.

The app features a wide range of dhakas from Pakhawaj taals and a beautifully tuned Tanpura with 12 distinct tones. It allows music enthusiasts and devotees of the Vaishnav tradition to experience the melodious sound of the Pakhawaj, seamlessly blended with Kirtan for the divine service of the Lord.

The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms, making it available for download to a global audience. The application has been developed by Mayur Bosmia from Rajkot, reflecting a deep commitment to blending technology with the preservation of India’s classical musical heritage.
