The Velammal Group of Institutions has begun distributing essential food materials to poor and downtrodden residing in Chennai and its suburban areas from Monday.
A release from the Velammal Nexus, Mogappair near Anna Nagar in Chennai said that it has planned to distribute relief pack containing Rice, Atta, Toor Dal, Salt, and Cooking oil to the poor people living on the roadside and slums in the city and its suburban areas.
The process of distributing the aid will continue for a few more days, as the management wishes to help over 1,500 families.
Beneficiaries for the relief materials were identified by the parents of the students of Velammal Group of Institutions.
A staff of the Velammal Nexus from its school complex in Mogappair distributed relief materials to the needy families, the official added.
