In a decisive step towards capacity building and technological awareness, the Golden Katar Division successfully conducted a comprehensive Drone Awareness Outreach Programme for Ex-Servicemen from December 17 to 19, 2025, at the Gandhinagar Military Station. The three-day initiative witnessed an overwhelming participation of 300 veterans, reaffirming their enduring commitment to national security and lifelong learning.

The outreach programme was designed to familiarise veterans with the rapidly evolving drone ecosystem, covering advancements in unmanned aerial technologies, their operational applications, associated security challenges, and safe handling practices. Dedicated awareness camps set up within the military station showcased modern surveillance, reconnaissance, logistics and counter-drone systems, offering participants a first-hand look at contemporary defence capabilities.

Veterans were briefed on different categories of drones, basic principles of flying, operational roles, payload integration, and the legal and regulatory framework governing drone usage in India. Special emphasis was laid on national security imperatives, underlining the critical role of drones in modern warfare, border management, disaster response, humanitarian assistance and expanding civilian applications.

Interactive and hands-on demonstrations allowed participants to closely observe drone design, functioning, safety mechanisms and emerging trends in UAV technology. Subject matter experts also sensitised veterans on identifying potential aerial threats, standard reporting protocols, precautions to prevent misuse, and the importance of responsible drone usage in civil life.

Beyond technology, the programme served as a vital platform to strengthen bonds with the veteran fraternity, acknowledging their continued relevance as informed, vigilant and responsible stakeholders in the nation’s security architecture. The enthusiastic participation, probing discussions and keen interest displayed by the Ex-Servicemen made the outreach a resounding success.

The initiative reflects the Armed Forces’ sustained commitment to community engagement, awareness generation and technological empowerment, ensuring that veterans remain well-equipped to navigate and contribute to India’s dynamic and evolving security environment.
