The Indian Army’s Golden Katar Division organised Vijay Diwas celebrations at Gandhinagar Military Station under the aegis of HQ85 Infantry Brigade and a mega ex-servicemen rally at Football Ground there on Sunday.
The event commemorated the empathetic victory of the Indian armed forces over Pakistan in 1971 Indo-Pak war which resulted in the liberation of East Pakistan and creation of Bangladesh.
“The event witnessed a healthy presence of Veterans of 1971 war, Ex servicemen & Veer Naris from Gandhinagar and Mehsana districts. This momentous occasion was graced by Lieutenant General Asit Mistry (Retd) and a host of serving and retired officers and soldiers,” said PRO Defence Wing Commander Manish Nagarajan in an official statement.
“In addition, a mega ESM (Ex-Service Men) rally was also organised in Gandhinagar Military Station attended by large number of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris. Maj Gen Mohit Wadhwa, General Officer Commanding , Golden Katar Division, while addressing the gathering, recounted the bravery, valour and sacrifices by the Indian Armed Forces during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. During interaction, the GOC re-assured the gathering that it is the moral obligation of the serving personnel to take care of the needs of Ex-servicemen and address their genuine issues. It was also emphasized that Indian Army has always remained focused towards their welfare with assurance that the present disposition will remain committed to their needs and aspirations,” Wing Commander Manish Nagarajan said.
As a token of gratitude to selfless service rendered by specially abled Ex Servicemen and supreme sacrifice made by spouses of Veer Naris , the General Officer of Golden Katar Division felicitated them .
The event was organised with a two-fold aim of cementing already existing affable relations with our brethren as also to spread awareness amongst the Ex-Servicemen on the new initiatives by Army with respect to pensions, their redressals and to assist in mitigating any personal issues being faced by them .
