Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam passed resolutions on Sunday slamming the ruling parties in the Centre and State. The party opposed ‘One nation, One election’ and NEET in the first executive meeting held after its first state conference in Vikravandi recently.

TVK condemned the DMK government over law and order, nudged it to hold the caste survey, demanded scrapping the Parandur airport project and sought closure of liquor outlets in a time bound manner.
Party sources said that Vijay held private discussions with senior party leaders, including his close confidant and party General Secretary Bussy Anand, a former MLA from Puducherry.

Actor and TVK chief Vijay headed the executive committee meeting of TVK held on Sunday at Chennai and the party reportedly discussed measures to strengthen the party’s organisational structure. The party’s district functionaries attended the meeting and they passed 26 resolutions.

The party slammed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led state government for the poor law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. It also urged the state government to conduct a caste survey and demanded it to scrap the Parandur airport project. The party also urged the state government to ensure the closure of liquor shops in the state in a time-bound manner.
The party opposed the BJP and Centre and demanded the withdrawal of Waqf Amendment Bill 2024. The party termed the Bill, which is under the review of a Joint Parliamentary Committee, an “attack against federalism”. The newly launched party also opposed ‘One nation, one election’ proposal and said the attempt to implement it went against democracy.
TVK also demanded the scrapping of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and wants education to be shifted to the state list from the concurrent list of the Constitution. The party said its ‘ideology is secularism and social justice,’ which is a commitment to harmony and unity of all the people in Tamil Nadu.

The meeting also reportedly touched on strategies to counter political rivals, such as Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman, who had criticised Vijay when he described his new party’s ideology as a blend of Dravidian and Tamil nationalism at a rally at Vikkaravandi last week.
Seeman, a staunch advocate of Tamil nationalism, called this combination incompatible, stating: “This is very wrong, bro. You either stand on that side or this side. Standing in the middle risks getting run over”.
