COIMBATORE, MAY 24
People from six villages surrounding Isha submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector on Friday, requesting the government to take action against outsiders who are spreading false information and causing disruptions to the ongoing construction of the gasifier crematorium by Isha.
Regarding this, the villagers in a statement said: “On behalf of the residents of the six villages of Thanikkandi, Madakkadu, Mullangadu, Pattiyar Kovilpathi, Muttathuyal, and Semmedu, we have submitted petitions to the District Collector.” Four of these villages are tribal communities.
- As a result of our efforts, we were delighted to learn that a gasifier crematorium is being built at Isha’s expense for public use near our villages: Petitioners
- However, a few people with vested interests like Sivagnanam, Kamaraj, Subramaniam, and others, along with certain organizations, are engaging in activities to obstruct the construction of the gasifier crematorium at Isha: Villagers
“Due to the lack of proper cremation facilities in our villages, we have to travel up to 20 kilometers to conduct final rites for the deceased. This has caused significant economic hardship and difficulties in gathering all relatives for the ceremonies. Therefore, we have been requesting that a crematorium be established close to our villages for many years. Each village had individually submitted petitions to the District Collector, the Tahsildar, and the Panchayat President,” the petitioners said.
They further added that “As a result of our efforts, we were delighted to learn that a gasifier crematorium is being built at Isha’s expense for public use near our villages. Isha has been providing various forms of aid to our villages, such as education, employment opportunities, and medical assistance. Continuing this support, they are now constructing a modern gas crematorium with government approval. The people of all six villages fully support this noble initiative.”
“However, a few people with vested interests like Sivagnanam, Kamaraj, Subramaniam, and others, along with certain organizations, are engaging in activities to obstruct the construction of the gasifier crematorium at Isha. They are intruding into our villages, spreading false information, and disturbing the peace. Additionally, some of these outsiders are giving defamatory interviews against Isha to certain media outlets,” the statements added.
“Therefore, we have requested the District Collector to take appropriate action against those working against the interests of our villages and to ensure that the construction of the gasifier crematorium at Isha is completed swiftly without any hindrance,” they revealed
