The couple Bargunan and Shanthi from Marudur village in Villupuram district had gone to Australia to visit their son’s family on a tourist visa during December 2019 and returned to New Delhi.
The couple who do not know except Tamil was unable to converse with the authorities and the police to explain their plight. After spending a few hours in a separate room at the airport, the couple was taken to a hospital in Noida on the outskirt of the national capital.
The hospital authorities in Noida took the samples for coronavirus test and quarantined the couple in a hostel. When the test results were found negative after two days, the couple was asked to vacate the hostel room.
The shocked couple contacted their relative in Villupuram over the phone and informed their plight. Who, in turn, sought the help of Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi (VCK) MP Ravikumar representing Villupuram constituency.
The kind-hearted MP spoke to the couple immediately and after a long hurdle helped the couple to reach the quarters of the MP through an IPS officer Rajesh from Puducherry working in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, in another tweet, VCK MP Ravikumar appealed the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to rescue daily wage earners stranded in Mumbai on Saturday night.
With the timely help of the VCK MP, the couple was taken care of well in the quarters, the couple said.
Earlier, the Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy had arranged the safe stay of pilgrims from Puducherry stranded in Varanasi through the collector there on Thursday.
