Kishorsinh Chavda, Vice-Chancellor of the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) on Saturday formally launched the newly formed alumni association of the Department of Business & Industrial Management (DBIM) of the VNSGU at the senate hall of the university.
“During the past two years, we all were away from each other to protect ourselves from deadly virus. It is a commendable to see alumni students coming forward to form association for connecting to build a strong network and be useful to the institution and community. Forming an association is like the process of sowing seed, but to see it grow into a full-fledged plant, water, sunlight, and atmosphere will be must. Likewise, leadership will be required to take University and its students forward” said the Vice-Chancellor Mr Kishorsinh.
The launch event also saw a knowledge-sharing session involving key people from the industry, including Professor Rakesh Basant, IIM – A, Jignesh Desai, and Neeraj Choksi, co-founders & Joint MD of NJ group. The association members had a full day for meet and greet and networking amongst each other event that gave past and present students an opportunity to know, interact, and build lasting relationships.
“The primary objective of the VNSGU’s DBIM Surat alumni association is to foster ties between alumni and students, faculty, department/university, external organizations, and other interested parties (friends). The association aims to promote alumni participation and involvement in department activities, to become a resource for organizational skills, knowledge, and funds for students and help to become a resource for teaching, placement, service, and research projects,” said Sougata Ganguli, founding member of DBIM alumni association.
“The association would also strive to foster and strengthen beneficial ties amongst alumni, increase the alumni and friend volunteer base and increase participation in pursuing vision including fundraising activities” added Suresh Saraf, another founding member of the DBIM alumni association.
“The thought DBIM’s past students getting together and thinking of giving back to Alma Mater thus forming an alumni association, is a commendable one. In Today’s world of uncertainty and volatility, in the environment of ambiguity and complexity, we require hands to guide us both department and students towards better opportunities and growth” added Dr Renuka Garg, Head of Department of Business & Industrial Management.
Registrar Dr Prof Jaideep Chaudhary was also present at the event.
