VS Hospitals, one of Chennai’s leading multispeciality healthcare centres, has unveiled the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, a state-of-the-art system that elevates the precision and personalisation of knee replacement surgeries.
The launch took place at the hospital’s Kilpauk facility, with former Indian cricketer Mr. Krishnakumar Dinesh Karthik inaugurating the cutting-edge platform. To mark the occasion, the hospital is offering free orthopaedic consultations until the end of the month.

The inauguration was attended by senior leadership and specialists, including Prof. Dr. S. Sundar, Medical Director and Robotic Arthroplasty Surgeon, Prof. Dr. S. Subramanian, Senior Medical Oncologist and Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. Muthu Subramanian, Executive Director, Mr. Prassanna Srinivasan, Group COO, and Mr. S. Ramu Mahalingam, Director – Finance.
Speaking on the launch, Prof. Dr. Sundar said the VELYS system marks a transformative advancement in knee replacement care. “The system provides real-time surgical insights, eliminates the need for pre-operative CT scans, and enhances accuracy in implant positioning. With its CT-free workflow, we can minimise radiation exposure, reduce preparation time, and lower costs,” he said.
He added that the platform uses advanced optical tracking and precision-guided tools to support accurate bone resection and optimal implant placement. “These features translate into improved mobility, less post-operative pain, and a faster return to daily activities,” he noted, emphasising that the knee’s complex structure demands both surgical expertise and cutting-edge technology.
The Institute of Orthopaedics and Robotic Arthroplasty at VS Hospitals offers a comprehensive range of advanced joint care solutions, including Total Knee and Hip Replacements, Revision Hip Surgeries, Shoulder and Elbow interventions, Pelvic Osteotomy, Pelvic Acetabular Surgery, and tumour limb-saving procedures. The centre is also recognised for specialised procedures such as smart technique knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty.
Its infrastructure includes intra-operative image guidance, 24-hour CT scan services, physiotherapy and laser therapy units, and computer-assisted rehabilitation.
