In a landmark step towards redefining cancer treatment, VS Hospitals, Chennai, has launched HOPE — the Holistic Oncology Program for Excellence — and a dedicated Department of Genetics under its Precision Oncology Division.

Actress and social worker Rohini Molleti inaugurated the initiatives in the presence of Prof. Dr. S. Subramanian, Founder Chairman and Managing Director, and the hospital’s senior oncology team including Dr. Nithya Sridharan, Dr. Vijay G, Prof. Dr. S. Sundar, and Mr. Muthu Subramanian.
AI-POWERED PARTNERSHIP
Taking innovation a step further, VS Hospitals signed an MoU with Tweak & Eat, a US-based AI health-tech company, to provide real-time, personalised nutrition guidance for cancer patients.
Through this collaboration, patients can receive instant feedback on food choices, customised meal plans, and ongoing dietary adjustments based on treatment progress and side effects.
THE SCIENCE OF PRECISION
The newly launched Department of Genetics will drive genomic testing, tumour profiling, and pharmacogenomics to enhance diagnostic precision and drug response prediction.
“Our focus is on molecular-guided oncology, using biomarkers and gene signatures to select the right drug at the right dose,” said Dr. Nithya Sridharan, Associate Director & Senior Consultant, Medical Oncology. “With global-standard lab collaborations and advanced bioinformatics, we ensure faster, more accurate, and cost-effective testing.”
The hospital also operates a Familial Cancer Screening Clinic, offering risk assessment through the CanRisk model and germline testing to identify hereditary cancer susceptibilities.
