The Wagh Bakri Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, has begun work on its second Miyawaki forest—planting more than 5,000 trees at an AUDA plot in Godhavi–Manipur. Strengthening its long-term commitment to environmental sustainability, the Foundation has dedicated the new green space as ‘Narandas Desai Upvan’, honouring the visionary founder of the Wagh Bakri Group.
The plantation drive, carried out in collaboration with Catch Foundation, was initiated on Monday with the symbolic planting of saplings by senior leaders. Vice Chairman and Managing Director Rasesh Desai, Executive Director Paras Desai, Directors Priyam Parikh and Vidisha Desai, and CEO Sanjay Singal joined the team to formally launch the project.

Designed using the globally acclaimed Miyawaki method, the forest will grow rapidly into a dense, biodiverse natural habitat. Once established, it is expected to significantly enhance local biodiversity, improve air quality, reduce ambient temperatures, capture carbon dioxide, and aid groundwater recharge—ultimately becoming a long-lasting ecological asset for the community.
Highlighting the Foundation’s environmental commitment, Executive Director Paras Desai said, “The creation of this Miyawaki forest is a tribute to Shri Narandas Desai’s enduring legacy. It reflects our commitment to strengthening urban biodiversity and supporting future generations with cleaner, greener environments.”

This initiative forms part of the Wagh Bakri Foundation’s 2025–26 CSR vision and builds upon its successful green intervention in 2023, where the Foundation and Catch Foundation developed Shri Pankajbhai Upvan in Gandhinagar. With consistent, replicable, and community-aligned environmental projects, the Foundation continues to set an inspiring benchmark for sustainability efforts that others can emulate.
