Instagram announced that it has kicked off an activation in Ahmedabad, aimed at encouraging young people to express and explore their personal stories, on the platform. This activation is a part of the platform’s new campaign ‘We Are In The Making’.
‘We Are In The Making’ is based on the insight that young people want to express themselves and be a part of a community, but look for constant nudges of encouragement from those around them. The campaign is rooted in the fact that for young people, identity isn’t defined, it’s something that’s constantly explored. Identity formation means connecting more deeply with the people that matter to you, discovering and experimenting with new interests, or sharing your perspective, however work-in-progress it may be.
Thus on October 29th – 31st Instagram has created an experience at the popular entertainment center and gaming arcade, SHOTT located at Sindhubhavan Marg, from 10 am to 7 pm. This experience came alive with an installation made by Ahmedabad’s very own storyteller studio and art collective, House of Berserk helmed by artist Priyanka Thaker, young emerging designer and illustrator Srishti Gupta Roy (@srillustrator), and leading curated art platform, Art & Found. Using vivid colours and local Gujarati pop symbols, the art installation brought to life the artists’ vision of the campaign.
Commentiung on this, Avinash Pant, Director – Marketing, Facebook India, gives more context, “With Reels, we’ve seen the rise of a new cohort of short form video creators who’ve discovered their interests and found their voice, and attained national popularity in the process. With this experience zone in Ahmedabad, we’re encouraging young people to shape their identity, no matter how ‘work-in-progress’ their personal story might be. We hope this experience encourages young people from Ahmedabad to express and shape themselves on Instagram.”
The experience at SHOTT will be visited by local creators like Sasha Bahukhandi, who will create Reels within the background, and encourage others too.
