In this vein, Childline India Foundation held Childline Se Dosti Programme, a week-long event that started on November 14 and will end on November 20, to raise awareness on child safety.

Childline is a non-government organisation that operates a telephone helpline called Childline for children in distress. It was India’s first 24-hour, toll-free phone outreach service for children.

The campaign was inaugurated by Murugan, Deputy Superintendant of Police – Govt Railway Police, DCV Raju, and J Anil, Assistant Security Commissioners, Railway Protection Force, along with Station Officials, RPF officials, and a team of Childline India Foundation, Chennai.

The programme is jointly held by the CHILDLINE India Foundation, the Southern Railway officials, the police personnel, and the Child Help Desk unit.

The officials and passengers signed the signature campaign to register their participation and popularise zero violence against children.

During the programme, an awareness campaign of CHILDLINE toll free number 1098 and the other helpline numbers for RPF 182 and GRP 1512 was shared with the passengers to assist the children in need of care and protection, found in Railway premises.
