In a celebration where colours merged with compassion and melodies rekindled forgotten smiles, Ahmedabad witnessed an extraordinary Holi celebration as senior citizens from various old age homes became the heart of a vibrant musical evening filled with warmth, dignity and human connection.
Jointly organised by Peer Parai Foundation, Parivartan, and Peed Parai Seva Ashram, the event unfolded at the scenic Anari Farmhouse near the iconic Akshaya Patra Temple in Bhadaj, creating an atmosphere where music became medicine and companionship the true colour of the festival.
The evening came alive with evergreen songs, spirited performances, and joyous participation from elderly residents, many of whom found themselves reliving cherished memories through rhythm and celebration.
When games sparked forgotten laughter
Adding a delightful new dimension this year, a specially curated fun-and-games session preceded the musical programme. Seniors participated enthusiastically, their laughter echoing across the venue, breaking barriers of age and isolation.
What began as a simple gathering soon transformed into an emotional celebration—one where every smile reflected renewed belonging and every note sung carried the power to heal.
Healthcare promise brings hope beyond celebration
In a deeply meaningful gesture, Chief Guest PR Kankariya, Chairman of Rajasthan Hospital, announced free medical services for senior citizens visiting the hospital.
Addressing the gathering, he praised the foundation’s humanitarian efforts and assured unwavering support, stating, “I will provide complete cooperation whenever needed.”
His announcement infused the celebration with lasting significance, reinforcing that care for seniors must extend beyond festivals into everyday life.
Recognising years of selfless service
Special Guest Ajay Agarwal, Vice President of Agarwal Seva Samiti and Rani Shakti Temple, reflected on the foundation’s remarkable consistency over 14 years. He highlighted its unwavering service, especially during the COVID-19 crisis, when the organisation provided vital assistance to the needy and supported old age homes continuously for three months.
A vision to build spaces where seniors celebrate life
Looking ahead, Sharad Agarwal, Founder and President of Peer Parai Foundation, shared plans to establish a dedicated senior citizen entertainment centre in Ahmedabad—an initiative aimed at creating a permanent space for joy, recreation and social connection for the elderly.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from patrons, senior members, and women supporters, reflecting the community’s collective commitment to honouring and uplifting its senior citizens. The programme was seamlessly compered by Foundation Secretary Pramod Gupta.
More than a festival, the evening became a reminder that dignity, joy and belonging are timeless—and that sometimes, the most powerful colours are those of compassion.
