In a colourful tribute to resilience, talent and empowerment, the Women’s Wing of Telangana Tamil Sangam hosted an inspiring International Women’s Day Celebration 2026 at Keyes Girls High School, drawing hundreds of women from the Tamil community across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The event celebrated the spirit of womanhood through recognition, dialogue and cultural expression, creating a vibrant platform for women to connect, reflect and inspire one another.

Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Dr. Nirmala Rajaram, Principal Chief Medical Director (PCMD), South Central Railway, Government of India, emphasized the vital role women play in shaping society through leadership, awareness and service.
“Women today are not merely participants in progress — they are its driving force. Leadership, health awareness and community engagement will empower women to shape a stronger and more compassionate society,” said Dr. Nirmala Rajaram in her keynote address.
Honouring women of excellence
A highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of Women Achievers from the community whose work has made a meaningful impact across professions and public life. Each awardee was honoured with a shawl and citation.

Guests of honour and Sangam representatives lauded the achievers for their dedication and contributions.
“These achievers represent the strength and diversity of our community. Their journeys inspire the next generation of women to dream bigger and serve society with commitment,” said Sangam representatives during the felicitation ceremony.
Celebration Blending Culture, Dialogue and Wellness
The day-long programme featured a lively mix of activities including fun games, a free medical camp, poetry forum, panel discussions on social issues, motivational speeches, and colourful cultural performances by community members.
Participants also joined a group photo session capturing the spirit of unity and celebration.
In a thoughtful nod to Tamil cultural philosophy that “Nature itself is divine,” organisers distributed seed balls to participants, encouraging environmental awareness and tree-planting initiatives.
The celebration concluded with a traditional dinner, strengthening bonds among community members and reinforcing the Sangam’s commitment to cultural continuity and social welfare.
