When their kites soared to the limitless sky of confidence, over 550 differently-abled enjoyed it with gay abandon in Paldi area of Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The 9th edition of “Divyang Patang Mahotsav” was inaugurated by Saint Shree Omrushi Priteshbhai, Founder of Omkar Foundation Trust in the presence of Ellisbridge MLA Amitbhai Shah.
It was held at Annapurna Party Plot, Dharnidhar Derasar, Paldi- Vikas Gruh Road, besides Vikas Gruh School, Paldi, Ahmedabad from 10 am onwards.
As the morning breeze started blowing with all its intensity on Sunday, an enthusiastic crowd of over 550 differently-abled individuals and children, including autistic and paraplegics along with their families from the city, milled around Paldi engaging in an activity that literally makes your heart soar: Flying kites. Hundreds of kites flitted, glided and danced in the bright sky as they experienced the joy of flying kites.
With indomitable spirit, disabled people can also climb the Himalayas. With the aim of providing a platform to disabled children, His Holiness Omrushi Priteshbhai, who himself is a Divyang, has been organising this festival to cheer up these Divyang children.
Along with kite-flying, Kinjal Ashokkumar Shah and Mihir Ashokkumar Shah, trustees of the Foundation Trust, arranged many entertainment events for the children.
Param Pujya Priteshbhai Ashok Kumar Shah was conferred with the National Award in recognition of his service and uplift of specially handicapped people. “Omkar Foundation Trust” was established in the year 2014 by the inspiration of Mantra Yuga changer Sant Shri Omrushi Priteshbhai. The aim of the trust is to help physically and mentally challenged children, adolescents and adults without discrimination of any caste, gender or religion.
Commenting on this kite festival, Saint Shree Omrushi Priteshbhai, said, “”Our trust has been working to help physically, mentally challenged and needy people, The satisfaction and joy we are getting cannot be explained in words. We want to continue our efforts towards the development and enrollment of such communities. We strive hard for the betterment of the differently persons so that they can also lifers like the common man.”
