In a vibrant celebration marked by ritual, reverence, and rising anticipation, the grand muhurat of the Gujarati social horror film Chhann Chhann was held, signalling the arrival of an ambitious cinematic experiment that promises to blend psychological suspense with deeply rooted social realities.
Presented by M. Bhamashah Entertainment, the film ventures beyond conventional horror, weaving a haunting narrative around a traditional family where innocent love becomes entangled in greed, societal pressure, and mysterious, unsettling events following a young couple’s marriage.
At its core, Chhann Chhann explores the darker layers of human behaviour, morality, and justice—using horror not merely as spectacle, but as a mirror to social truths and emotional fractures within families.
Director’s Vision: Horror With a Social Conscience
Director Arvindsinh Puvaar, known for his distinctive cinematic eye, described the film as a turning point for the regional industry.
“Through this film, we are going to bring a new level of horror and social drama to Gujarati cinema,” said Puvaar at the muhurat ceremony.
He emphasised that the film’s strength lies in its emotional authenticity, where fear emerges not only from supernatural elements but also from human choices, guilt, and social injustice.
Powerful Creative Backbone Shapes the Narrative
The film is produced by Mahesh G Thakor, with Sahdev Kotdi serving as creative producer and Rajesh M. Chauhan as executive producer—forming a team committed to elevating Gujarati storytelling to new cinematic heights.
The screenplay has been crafted by acclaimed writer-actor Chetan Dhaiya, whose narrative promises emotional intensity layered with psychological intrigue.
Adding sonic depth to the film’s atmosphere, music composer DJ Kwid will create a haunting soundscape designed to amplify tension and emotional resonance.
Strong Ensemble Cast Brings Emotional and Psychological Depth
Leading the cast is acclaimed Gujarati actor Kinjal Rajpriya, alongside Jhanvi Chauhan, Sanjaysinh Chauhan, and writer-actor Chetan Dhaiya.
The film also features seasoned performers including Jitendra Thakkar, Kalpana Gagdekar, Nimesh Dilip Rai, Mahi Malhotra, Shivani Modh, and Hemang Shah, each contributing to the layered emotional landscape of the story.
Members of the cast expressed enthusiasm about being part of a project that challenges traditional genre boundaries and offers audiences a fresh cinematic experience rooted in realism and suspense.
A New Chapter for Gujarati Cinema
With shooting set to commence soon, Chhann Chhann represents a bold creative leap—positioning Gujarati cinema within the evolving space of socially conscious horror storytelling.
By merging psychological depth, social commentary, and atmospheric horror, the film aims to resonate not only as entertainment but as a reflection of societal tensions, emotional fragility, and the consequences of human ambition.
The ceremonial muhurat marks not just the beginning of a film—but the birth of a genre-defining moment for Gujarati cinema.
