The Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala is set to hoist the sails of one of the world’s most prestigious naval sailing championships as it hosts the Admiral’s Cup 2025 from December 8 to 13. The 14th edition promises to be the biggest ever, drawing 35 international teams—the highest participation since the championship’s inception.

Instituted in 2010, the Admiral’s Cup was envisioned to build camaraderie and deepen maritime partnerships among officer trainees from friendly foreign navies. Over the years, it has evolved into a globally renowned event, showcasing elite sailing talent and strengthening bonds across naval academies worldwide.

The competition will unfold in the Match Racing format using ILCA-6 class sailboats, internationally respected for demanding sharp tactical manoeuvring, physical stamina, and exceptional seamanship. Teams from across Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas will converge on the Ezhimala coast—bringing together an unparalleled blend of maritime cultures and professional excellence.

INA’s world-class training ecosystem, expansive outdoor sailing complex, and favourable coastal conditions make it an ideal battleground for high-intensity naval sailing. Beyond the races, participants will get a glimpse into the Academy’s discipline, naval traditions, and India’s maritime heritage through cultural exchanges and outreach programmes.

The championship will be formally inaugurated at the Opening Ceremony on December 9, followed by four days of adrenaline-fuelled racing in challenging sea and wind conditions. The competition will draw to a close on December 13 with the Closing Ceremony, where top-performing nations and individual sailors will be honoured.

Reflecting the spirit of global maritime partnership, the Admiral’s Cup 2025 underscores India’s dedication to strengthening naval cooperation, shaping future maritime leaders, and upholding the highest standards of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
