The winter session of parliament will begin on December 4 and continue till December 22, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday. The session will have 15 sittings spread over 19 days.
“Winter Session, 2023 of Parliament will commence from 4th December and continue till 22nd December having 15 sittings spread over 19 days. Amid Amrit Kaal looking forward to discussions on Legislative Business and other items during the session,” the minister said in a post on X.
The report of the Ethics Committee on the cash-for-query allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra will be tabled in the Lok Sabha during the session.
The committee has recommended expulsion of the MP and a detailed probe into the allegations against her.
The house will have to adopt the panel report before initiating action against Moitra who is accused of taking bribes for asking questions in parliament.
Three key bills which seek to replace the IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act are likely to be taken up for consideration during the session. A parliament standing committee has already adopted the three reports recently.
A bill relating to the appointment of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners is also pending in parliament.
